But this utter flood of cherish brought something more. In some really obscure venues one could often encounter some shady personalities muttering some words in fear, and that for sure was not just drunken gibberish. In dark alleys, in turn, complicated geometrical symbols appeared on the walls, drawn with chalk. According to the rumors, passer-by feel an irresistible urge to gaze upon the graffiti…

Noctiline is a psychedelic horror scenario for Call of Cthulhu 7th edition. Its default setting is New York City in 1920' but it can be easily adapted to other settings and eras. Inside you'll find:

  • An intrigue crafted by highly suspicious people trying to prepare humanity for a confrontation with the Great Old Ones with forbidden drugs and dark magic;
  • A non-linear investigation allowing the investigators to discover this plan and either stop or help it;
  • Rules for exploring the Murkspace, an otherwordly realm that might be humanity's only hope agains the Great Old Ones – or a deadly trap;
  • To See the Old Ones. The Case of Eichlers, a short story by Magdalena Świeczek-Gryboś, introducing the scenario's mood and presenting a hook for other noctiline-related investigations.
Noctiline is a supplement from the Zgrozy series. To find out more about Zgrozy visit our Facebook page (/ZgrozyEN) or see our other English releases. More releases will follow soon. The release includes a fully illustrated PDF file in average and high quality (AQ/HQ) as well as a print-friendly version with no layout or graphics. It also includes a map of New York that can be used as a handout in .jpg format.
“Zgrozy” is a slightly archaic Polish word for “Horrors” or “Terrors.” Following advice from English-speaking Cthulhu fans, we decided to keep the original title for foreign releases since it sounds suitably unspeakable and blasphemous to non-Polish ears. You'll find a file with the correct pronunciation of Zgrozy attached to the supplement!

What is an "utter flood of cherish"? If this is indicative of the translation quality of the text, is there a reason for us to assume it's readable?

PURCHASER
An embarrassing mistake, my bad! For some reason I was certain that "cherish" is not only a verb, but also a noun, and this led me astray. I have already informed Zgrozy team about this error, I hope it can be fixed in forthcoming Print on Demand edition.

Scanned image
These products were created by scanning an original printed edition. Most older books are in scanned image format because original digital layout files never existed or were no longer available from the publisher.

For PDF download editions, each page has been run through Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software to attempt to decipher the printed text. The result of this OCR process is placed invisibly behind the picture of each scanned page, to allow for text searching. However, any text in a given book set on a graphical background or in handwritten fonts would most likely not be picked up by the OCR software, and is therefore not searchable. Also, a few larger books may be resampled to fit into the system, and may not have this searchable text background.

For printed books, we have performed high-resolution scans of an original hardcopy of the book. We essentially digitally re-master the book. Unfortunately, the resulting quality of these books is not as high. It's the problem of making a copy of a copy. The text is fine for reading, but illustration work starts to run dark, pixellating and/or losing shades of grey. Moiré patterns may develop in photos. We mark clearly which print titles come from scanned image books so that you can make an informed purchase decision about the quality of what you will receive.

Original electronic format
These ebooks were created from the original electronic layout files, and therefore are fully text searchable. Also, their file size tends to be smaller than scanned image books. Most newer books are in the original electronic format. Both download and print editions of such books should be high quality.
